Sometimes an association with a name, yes, ZTE, sees stocks running – and Tiger would like to run along too. First it was something called Ingens and then The Media Shoppe both of which leapt more than a 100% and then dipped just as rapidly. Want to run along with Tiger? Read on.
Tiger loves to run… Nothing beats the feeling of grass, leaves or the jungle earth beneath Tiger’s paws, as Tiger’s powerful frame surges through the thicket, pouncing on hapless victims, as only the apex predator can.
Often Tiger imagines himself running in slow motion, to the tune of Chariots of Fire — it puts a smile on Tiger’s face. Sigh… Tiger is indeed a beautiful beast.
Other than Tiger running (slow motion and all), runs on the stock exchange can be pretty good too, and Tiger hears there are victims and predators as well, but Tiger knows not about this aspect as yet… emphasis on as yet.
Speaking of runs on stock prices, Tiger is looking at The Media Shoppe (TMS), and observing how active the counter is along with the surge of more than 100% and the equally dramatic fall to current levels, at below 10 sen a share.
Then a mouse deer who dabbles in the stock market in return for Tiger not slaying him, explained the reason for the surge. It seems there is some tie up with a Chinese company where TMS has been appointed an agent of the Chinese company ZTE Corp.
Of course Tiger ate the mouse deer. You think the ace predator of the Malaysian (corporate) jungle will show mercy? Shame on you. You must be a wimpy Singaporean.
TMS it seems, will help ZTE to loan out funds to companies that plan to embark on ICT projects in the Iskandar region. The amount loaned out will total some US$1 billion (RM3.1 billion).
Cool, Tiger could do with some of that US$1 billion. And it makes sense now that Tiger thinks about it. After all a tie up with a big Chinese firm like ZTE should generate interest. In fact, anything China-related would, given the billion plus people and all making up a huge market.
But then is it déjà vu? Does ZTE Corp ring a bell from somewhere?
Tiger remembers (it was a few months ago), a kijang Tiger caught asked to be released with the consideration of a stock tip in exchange for his life. Tiger, being Tiger, got both.
“Ingens 0034,” the kijang said, just before Tiger had him for lunch.
Anyway, Tiger later learnt that Ingens is Ingenuity Solutions (now Ingenuity Consolidated), and also had a tie up with a Chinese company, ZTE of course.
ZTE Corporation or ZTE (Malaysia) Corp Sdn Bhd in relation to the distribution of ZTE mobile devices appointed Ingens Sdn Bhd an authorized distributor of ZTE mobile devices in Malaysia.
There were reports of Ingenuity registering turnovers of close to RM4 billion along with gross and net profits of RM150 million and about RM75 million by 2014, albeit Ingenuity said it did not make such forecasts.
And unless Tiger’s memory fails him the whole Ingenuity saga was around August last year — Tiger can tell as he hasn’t had any kijang for lunch since then.
And Ingenuity from about 10 sen, gained to more than four times to 45 sen, but by October was in the same rut at 10 sen again.
Only in January this year did Ingenuity announce that it had aborted plans with ZTE Corp.
The trend seems similar, with the announcement of the tie up with ZTE, TMS shot up from nine sen to 18.5 sen but is now nine sen again.
So Tiger has applied for a job in ZTE, and hopes to make a killing when ZTE goes into a joint venture with another listed company.
After all, why should Tiger be discriminated against from partaking in the fun and frolic that is the stock exchange. Why should it be limited to only humans to make money?
Tiger demands equality, else Tiger is going to make a police report and… what was that fad again… a statutory declaration? At one time that was the favourite pastime of many, making statutory declarations, for whatever reason best known to them. If police reports don’t work, what will?
And till today Tiger has no clue as to what this statutory declaration is, other than the fact that it sounds so officious.
Anyway Tiger will wait for early next year to apply for a job in ZTE, wait for all the weak employees to take their bonus and leave, opening numerous possibilities for Tiger.
So if you don’t hear from Tiger soon, that could mean that Tiger has made his millions and is living it up in either the Bahamas or Cuba…In case you didn’t know Tiger has a weakness for stoogies….
Anyway as Tiger’s mentor Casey Casem used to say, “Keep your feet on the ground, and keep reaching for the stars”.
GRRRRR!
