KL shares stay higher at mid-afternoon

bursa-malaysia-mid-afternoonShare prices on Bursa Malaysia remained higher at mid-afternoon today, lifted by gains in Genting-related counters and other bluechips, dealers said.

At 3pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,769.44 points, up 2.72 points from yesterday’s close.

A total of 1.227 billion shares worth RM1.023 billion were traded.

Gainers outpaced losers by 467 to 292, with 260 counters unchanged, 581 untraded and 16 others suspended.

On the scoreboard, the Finance Index rose 37.221 points to 16,726.80, the Plantation Index added 9.40 points to 8,198.50 while the Industrial Index lost 2.35 points to 3,026.24.

The FBM Emas Index was up 26.52 points to 12,268.06 and the FBMT100 perked 19.311 points to 12,051.83.

The FBM Mid 70 Index earned 25.739 points to 14,070.64 and the FBM Ace Index jumped 54.37 points to 4,668.59.

Among actives, Patimas Computers earned half-a-sen to six sen, Tiger Synergy and Sanichi Technology added a sen each to 38.5 sen and nine sen respectively while Luster Industries-Warr eased 1.5 sen to 10 sen.

Of the heavyweights, Maybank, CIMB, Axiata, Sime Darby, Petronas Chemicals and Maxis were unchanged at RM10.02, RM8.34, RM6.91, RM9.50, RM6.54 and RM6.94 respectively.
