In this four-part series of article, KiniBiz takes a trip into Malaysia’s past and moves forward again to the present in order to track mega scandals. Malaysia’s rise as a regional power has also seen an equal rise in corporate misdeeds over the decades. We begin with looking at Malaysia’s growth in the 1980s, the decade which also spawned the first wave of mega scandals. We move along to the 1990s where despite widespread scrutiny and criticism of mega scandals, they persisted. Moving along we ask if the wave of Malaysian mega scandals in the 80s and 90s serve as cautionary tales moving into the 21st century? Finally, KiniBiz looks at what can realistically be done to prevent mega scandals as we move into the future.
