Petronas Dagangan Bhd, the domestic marketing arm of Petronas, is currently approaching several regional airports as part of its plan to further widen its jet fuel segment.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Aminul Rashid Mohd Zamzam said the company is currently pursuing several airports, mainly in Asia as well as outside the region.
“The whole idea is to provide the main customers that we have in the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) an opportunity for us to serve them in some of the other routes that they are taking.
“At the moment, I cannot reveal the specific opportunities. We have to continue pursuing it, because the airports, normally they are quite closed. The moment they open up, that’s when we explore and make a commercial assessment, whether we should participate and pursue or not,” he told Bernama on the sidelines of the CIMB Annual Asia Pacific Conference here today.
Petronas Dagangan already provides refuelling services at Heathrow and Hong Kong airports for Malaysia Airlines, Aminul Rashid said.
On domestic expansion, he said the company is on track to achieve its target of opening 60 new petrol stations this year.
“So far so good. The 60 stations are currently in various phases of construction. We are hoping to be able to use the 60 stations by the end of the year,” he said.
He also expressed confidence on the progress of its LubeXperts workshop development under its lubricants segment, which aims for 40 new workshops by year-end.
“We already have around four LubeXperts workshops in operation. The involvement with the F1 team to further promote the Lube products gives us renewed confidence, and we believe we can offer high-quality products to our customers,” he added.
The completion of the 40 new workshops would positively contribute to the segment’s growth, increasing the company’s market share by one to 2% in the next financial year from 24 per cent currently, he said.
