Share prices on Bursa Malaysia slipped mid-afternoon on mild profit taking activities mostly in heavyweights, dealers said.
At 3.04 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) eased 0.35 of a point to 1,773.7 compared with Tuesday’s close of 1,774.05.
The benchmark index, which opened 3.21 points higher at 1,777.26, moved between 1,772.07 and 1,782.41 during the entire trading session.
Across the region, some bourses experienced the same downward trend with Hong Kong’s Hang Seng losing 84.34 points to 21,141.54, Singapore’s Straits Times easing 6.51 points to 3,223.04 while Japan’s Nikkei 225 advanced 237.94
points to 13,245.22.
On the local front, the Finance Index edged up 0.041 of a point to 16,863.39, the Plantation Index improved 49.62 points to 8,448.51 while the Industrial Index slipped 0.69 of a point to 3,021.9.
The FBM Emas Index increased 6.63 points to 12,350.53, the FBMT100 Index added 7.25 points to 12,110.22, the FBM Mid 70 Index improved 47.4 points to 14,256.65 while the FBM Ace Index declined 17.65 points to 4,768.87.
Decliners led advancers 397 to 299 while 297 counters were unchanged, 585 untraded and 14 others were suspended.
Turnover stood at 921.336 million shares worth RM1.035 billion. Leading the actives were Winsun Technologies, Luster Industries-warr and Eti Tech, which shed one sen each to nine sen, 11 sen and eight sen respectively.
Of heavyweights, Maybank was unchanged at RM10.44, CIMB rose three sen to RM8.30 and Sime Darby edged up one sen to RM9.56. Axiata lost eight sen to RM6.56.
