Share prices on Bursa Malaysia turned slightly higher at mid-day today, supported by gains in selected heavyweights, dealers said.
At 12.30 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) edged up 0.18 point to 1,772.35 from yesterday’s close of 1,772.17.
The barometer index, which opened at 1,769.58, hovered between 1,765.38 and 1,774 during the whole trading session.
Meanwhile, most Asian bourses slipped with Japan’s Nikkei 225 declining 20.39 points to 13,012.73 and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng losing 135.81 points to 21,090.09 while Singapore’s Straits Times increased 39.69 points to 3,223.13.
On the scoreboard, the Finance Index improved 39.58 points to 16,835.42 and the Industrial Index added 0.92 point to 3,018.69 while the Plantation Index eased 13.53 points to 8,381.75.
The FBM Emas Index rose 16.76 points to 12,328.8, the FBMT100 increased 18.44 points to 12,090.23, the FBM Mid 70 Index advanced 91.22 points to 14,189.72 and the FBM Ace Index was 33.2 points higher at 4,767.76.
Gainers led losers by 309 to 298, with 305 counters unchanged, 670 untraded and 18 others suspended.
Total turnover was 817.092 million shares worth RM715.382 million.
Among actives, Luster Industries added half a sen to 24.5 sen while Winsun Technologies and Luster Industries-Warr shed half a sen each to 10.5 sen and 11.5 sen respectively.
Heavyweights Maybank rose six sen to RM10.44 and Sime Darby edged up one sen to RM9.54 while CIMB and Axiata remained unchanged at RM8.20 and RM6.65 respectively.
