At 3.30pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI advanced 19.8 points to 1,654.33 from Thursday’s 1,634.53 after opening 0.81 point higher at 1,635.34.
The key benchmark index, which opened higher at 1,635.34, hit its highest level at 1,654.56 at current hour.
Market breadth was positive with gainers outpacing losers by 611 to 276, with 268 counters unchanged, 614 counters untraded and 60 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 1.64 billion shares worth RM2.35 billion.
Tenaga Nasional, which saw strong buying support, contributed 4.22 points to the increase in the key index with its 44 sen gain to RM13.64 and with 15.35 million shares traded.
Sime Darby added 38 sen to RM7.99, while top-weighted Maybank bagged 17 sen to RM8.58.
The FBM Emas Index soared 130.43 points to 11,485.36, the FBMT100 Index improved 43.04 points to 11,056.63 and the FBM Emas Syariah Index gained 45.44 points to 12,246.64.
On the scoreboards, the FBM Emas Index surged 139.24 points to 11,494.39, the FBMT100 Index jumped 136.59 points to 11,203.42, and the FBM Emas Syariah Index advanced 112.56 points to 12,307.1.
The FBM 70 perked 164.99 points to 12,798.97, while the FBM ACE bagged 87.65 points to 5,877.96.
Sector-wise, the Plantation Index jumped 202.02 points to 7,776.54, the Finance Index surged 211.92 points to 13,881.62, while the Industrial Index advanced 78.1 points to 3,309.41.
Among actives, KNM gained 3 sen to 49 sen, Tiger Synergy was flat at 8.5 sen, while CIMB Group rose 9 sen to RM4.19.
