Syed Danial Syed Ariffin, the chief operating officer of Puncak Niaga Holdings Bhd has stated that Rozali Ismail, controlling shareholder and executive chairman of the water concessionaire, is not the stumbling block for the consolidation of water assets in Selangor. He was responding to an article in KiniBiz, “Rozali asks Selangor to explain”.
Syed Danial said the statement was untrue, baseless and unwarranted and would create suspicion and hatred among the readers and the public at large towards Rozali and the Puncak group.
“Rozali is not a stumbling block. For your information, on the third conditional offer made by the Selangor state government, on January 6, 2011, Syarikat Pengeluar Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Splash) had declined the offer within the time frame given, even before Puncak Niaga (M) Sdn Bhd (PNSB) and Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) had made any decisions whatsoever on the matter,” Syed Danial said.
He added that under the conditional offer if any one company rejects the offer then the entire offer made by the state is deemed to have lapsed, without any action by PNSB or Syabas.
“Therefore, by saying that all the offers had been rejected by Rozali as implied in the said sentence and labeling him as a ‘stumbling block’ is totally unfair, unjustified and incorrect,” Syed Danial added.
